Joan Mitchie

Joan worked in the care sector as a senior manager from 1985 to 2009 being General Manager for Trees Park Healthcare and Marketing Manager for Southern Cross Healthcare. She has been involved in charity work and is still involved in since her retirement, the majority of the involvement has been with younger people, initially writing funding bids and policies along with general support for many charities across Darlington and Newton Aycliffe. She is also a Dementia Friend Champion. She is also secretary for Co Durham Friendship Force who as a group host people from other countries and also enjoy visiting other countries too.

She has three children from previous marriages. She is a volunteer driver for Children in care for almost 5 years. She takes the children to and back from school.

She has been a school governor since 2019.
